it's counterproductive to send the mixed message of "breastfeeding is best but here's some free, easy formula". It's too easy to start baby on it and once that happens, many just take the lazy way out.

Are mothers who don't breastfeed hurting their babies out of laziness?

If breastfeeding is the best for baby and its important enough to prevent new mothers from accepting free formula and educational material (aka promotional material) about it, why not really ban formula all together?

PS I know breastfeeding is best. And people should be educated about that, even encouraged to do it. But things that smack of strongarm tactics rub me the wrong way.
