I shouldn't be commenting because I'm leaving, but I think The Road goes one step further. Yes, it reminds us that life is precious and that there is much to live for, but it left me wondering what was beyond the horizon, and it didn't leave me with much hope. The Road was one of the most depressing novels I've ever read. The Road was about what there is to live for.
