Telephone conversation with TSIM sales rep yesterday:

Current product was shepherded through development by Bill Ulrich, who has a consulting network called Tactical Strategy Group. Ulrich is an acknowledged Y2K expert on the order of Peter DeJaeger, just less public. His group consults with Fortune 50(no typo)companies on Y2K risk assessment and management. The current tool was tested/reviewed during development by a number of his clients, with suggestions being factored into final stages of product development-a form of meta-beta testing, if you will. So one can assume that to a certain extent beta testing has already occurred and real needs of real companies have been factored into it.

Product runs on Windows 95. All data re company operating systems, database management systems, business applications fed into program that simulates effects of any of these systems being down for varying periods of time. Product assumes that a company has already been able to catalogue all programs/apps relevant to y2k issues(a large assumption in the case of huge corps with 1000s of same), but can also assist client in completing inventory.

At the moment there is no competition for this product on a comparable scale.

Who wants this product?
Any company that is realizing the spectre of escalating costs related to y2k fix.
Any company finding itself hopelessly behind in assessment.
Any company who has finished assessment and wants to prioritize batches of code conversion.
Any company faced with resource allocation problems.
Any company realizing it isn't going to get the job done by 1/1/2000.

Uh, any company....
