BENTONVILLE, Ark., Oct. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Wal-Mart Stores Inc. reported net sales for the five week period ended October 3, 1997, of $10,722,000,000, an increase of 11.8% from the $9,593,000,000 in the similar period in the prior year. For the 35 week period ended October 3, 1997, sales increased 11.8% to $73,764,000,000.
Sam's Clubs sales for the five week period were $1,856,000,000, up 1.9% from $1,822,000,000 in the similar prior year period. Club sales for the 35 weeks of $13,229,000,000 were up 3.9% over the similar prior year period.
