Ik, you really should read the investigation by the Army Inspector General on Tillman. It makes it pretty clear that there wasn't an intentional "coverup" of the shooting. The problem was mostly that people didn't understand the rules for how to investigate a fratricide. That, and there was a lot of concern for Tillman's family, the people involved didn't want to "trickle" information to them, especially if there was a possibility that the news media would find out first and the family would hear things on the TV news before the Army could provide it to them. Read the IG report before guessing what happened with your own prejudices.
