I'm not quite as negative as you are :-)
I meet a lot of brilliant kids, and they seem capable of great things. Are there problems? Sure. Are the barbarians at the gates? No. On one gate we have sweet civilized Canada, and on the other side overpopulated Mexico- from whence cometh all your yardmen and maids and dishwashers and cooks and construction guys...
Frankly, while we have many worries in this country, other countries also have huge problems. I wouldn't want to be China for anything. They have so many huge problems- their population, the over abundance of males, their pollution problems, their finely balanced food supply, the rise of a pesky demanding middle class, alienated angry rural poor.
Now where is perfect, but the US, even with all its problems, is pretty darn great. Would I like the US to be greater? You bet. Do I think that's possible? Yes, even likely. |
