Haaaaaa! Hooooo! ...Hoooo?

I dared to betray him to save Earth...

You call this "saving Earth?!?!" <Hoo><that's a good one><Haa>

And if by "faith" you mean: belief despite an absence of reason, logic or proof... then I plead... NOT guilty! <vbg>

Lord a'mighty... I rest my case... Take me now old Galactus... "Save" me from the faithful saviours who can "chose" to change their minds whenever they want! <Hoo><ack><Hoo>

All the "reason, logic and proofs" I have indicate that it's dang nye impossible to be a licensed homo sapiens without believing things strictly on "faith"... not unless you're going for the brain dead, comatose or psychotic exemptions anyway. I have gobs of "faith" in more things than I can possibly know. <vbg>

It may be true that none of them have long white beards... flowing robes... and sit on clouds while "intelligently (or ignorantly) designing" universes... but I assure you they are faithful beliefs nonetheless. Not that it's anything to brag about... since it comes with the genes.

In fact... I functioned quite well for over half a century with no more than "faith" in the human need for "faith"... scarcely bothering to ask or wonder why we should be so deeply enslaved by this constancy... until I "accidentally" considered its evolutionary implications. Then the terrible simplicity of it finally dawned on me. But the truth was just too much... too horrible to seriously consider... much less publicly confess.

Interestingly... if not suspiciously... it was not unlike I'd imagine being compelled to sacrifice your first born on a mountain top... or to have your family survive a disaster that kills off everything else on the planet... all at a time in which "family" was literally everything... not simply biblo-political spin... and feeling deeply "blessed and thankful" for the experience.

In any case those implications forced me to lose... or as I like to think of it... "let go" of my mind... and undertake a devaluation of most of the things which... strangely enough... you now claim to have "saved." <Hoo><vbg><Hoo>

But you go right ahead... ye of massive optimistic faith. Just thank your lucky stars that I chose nihilism... instead of reinventing yet another mouse trap cult of biblical proportions in which you and all your Zenn-Lavian optimist buds could be... uh... reeducated. :)
