"If ten percent of the voters speak swahili, of course. That whole fairness in democracy thing really pisses you guys off, doesn't it?"

You didn't mention 10% in your first post. Why 10%?

Goldnet was opposed to putting voting pamphlets in other languages besides English. Usually, when a jurisdiction puts pamphlets in another language, there is a sizeable number of that minority registered as voters. Usually the percentage is somewhere between 5-10%; hence, my quoting that percentage.

But the point is your idea of "fairness" is absurd. Just being able to read the voter's pamphlet doesn't make for an informed voter. In order to vote intelligently, you have to understand (among other things) the culture of the country you are voting in and how can you possibly do that if you don't understand the language of the country?

Why do you have to understand the culture? We are not talking about whether to have Christmas on the 25th of December or not but rather whether taxes should be raised to pay for a new freeway. A freeway is a freeway in any culture.
