The mission was accomplished, then expanded, almost accomplished (last throes), then expanded once again...failed...now surged. There is no stated mission for Iraq. It's an open ended free for all...so long as congress keeps on spending on it. The ultimate in mission creep and nation building, obviously it's for the oil. It's going to take a few election cycles to get rid of some of these idiots...but get rid of them we must. Anyone who has voted for the war or it's continued funding will not get my vote.
