Craig,

Now that the FC storage market appears to be very strong going into 1998 I am expecting more strategic alliances to be announced among the major storage vendors. Ancor at this time has the best cutting-edge technology with their new switch and whoever alligns with them will have the best overall switch capability at an affordable price to offer their customers. (Any potential OEMS listening?) They apparently have regained their title as a technology leader when it comes to producing switches. Now they have to prove they can be a market leader by selling them.

As I mentioned before in an earlier posting, companies with the best products don't always win. The battle will be won in the marketplace. I believe the new management team will prove their worth in the coming weeks ahead. Ancor now has in place seasoned professionals who have "been there, done that". Even the latest press release regarding the new CFO, Steven Snyder, alludes to this:

<<"While at Cray, he built a strong financial framework to support sales and marketing functions; he also has significant experience in joint venture development, strategic alliances and other partnering activities.>>

I also believe their overall PR is getting better too. I like the updated web pages. Their press release regarding the MKII was well written. They provided information regarding the interoperability of their new switch at N+I which will certainly generate interest among those who are just starting to get familiar with FC capabilities.

Overall, the basic fundamentals of the company have really improved over the past 6 months or so. Still long and intending to stay there.

IMHO
