They are bad mothers if they don't breast feed- or at least much worse than those who do breastfeed. If you give your child substandard nutrition, you're a worse mother than someone who gives their baby excellent nutrition. Are we supposed to "dumb down" what being a good mother is so people don't get their feelings hurt?

If people want to be lazy and not breast feed, they certainly have the right to do that, but we have to be nice about it? Do we have to be nice about people who feed their kids potato chips and soda, and let them get obese? I'm not sure what you want. It seems to me you want the hospital to be supportive, or "nice", about bad health decisions. While I think hospitals have to be "nice" to the 1-3% of women who can't breastfeed, I don't think they have to be nice to the people who can, but choose not to.
