The closest we got to rain was hot and humid. Then we lost the humid. It's county and state fair time and it's always hot then.

Back in 1966 a friend and I went to the state fair in Springfield. Sleep in the car for a few nights, a teen thing. Had tickets to a concert and to the motorcycle races. This was the last year for the races and all the gangs showed up. We were on the midway when the riot broke out. All I wanted was my ass out of there to a place where people weren't being beaten, stabbed and shot and that was by the gangs girl friends. We ran true to what we were, scared little boys and drove the 60 miles home. No more camping out.
