Hawk, that is precisely the perceived threat. One side has them and the other does not. It does not matter if its a real threat or a perceived threat - it matters that policies are made and politics played out based on it.

Under these situations I dont blame the Arabs or Persians for wanting nukes. Its MAD all over again.

It's a one sided MAD, kumar. It is Israel whose existence is still not recognized, Israel that is under continual threat of annihilation. Israel doesn't refuse to recognize or threaten to annihilate Saudi Arabia or Syria or Iran. Instead, Israel broadcasts the threat that if it dies, it will take the aggressor with it. That's why they acquired a submarine-based second-strike capacity. It's called "The Samson Option."

Egypt and Saudi Arabia have huffed and puffed about how unfair it all is, but you haven't seen strong moves by them to get nukes - and Israel has had them for 40 years! That shows how strongly they really feel threatened. Now, Iranian nukes, well, there's a different kettle of fish!
