"Jeez, a Republican telling the truth. I wonder what they will do to him?"
Well, he has no chance in this election cycle. However, it is a great way to position himself for 2012. Because no one, not even the Democrats, are this blunt about it. So that puts him in a unique bin.
So what changes between now and then? Well, whoever wins in 2008 will be handed this festering sore of a war. And their administration will be consumed with it. Along with the economic fallout. Think Carter, on steroids. Carter didn't have a war to deal with, his spiritual heir will. So, we have the equivalent of a Nixon who has decided to punt the war to his successor.
So, the new guy or gal has a souring economy, a war with no solution and a constricted set of responses because all of the wiggle room has been burned by their predecessor. And, not only that, Smirk will hand them virtually unlimitless power.
Net result, the next president is likely to be a Democrat. Unless they are very skillful, they will only have single term and be succeeded by a non-Democrat. Nuke is positioning himself for that role. |
