No matter how clearly put, it won't matter to you, or people who, like you, are opposed to us being there at all.

I have said many many times here I support the effort of going into Afghanistan. Still do! Should we be there to do nation building? Probably not. Remember, Bush promised in one of his first debates that he did not believe in nation building and wouldn't do it. ....I think we need to get the job done and come home. To me (and I think to most people), the reason we needed to go into Afghanistan is to smack the holly heck out - to crush convincingly - those who attacked us.

John is right on and being honest that nation building will take decades. Are you prepared to stay - and to pay for - the building of a new Afghanistan? If so, then the very first thing that we all need to do is to start giving their culture some understanding. That's not an option - its a MUST. If we are to ever be successful in this decades long endeavor, we must also unite as a country. The only way that will happen is if the two sides bring down the level of hate. That too is a must - if we want to be successful.
