Brumar89;

So when do you want us to pull out of Afghanistan?

Ya, good question - it gave me pause. It's harder to answer now than it would have been when we first went in. I mean, 'now' you have to take the situation as it exist. Now, I'm not sure one can say when we need to get out. If we do nation building - a case not yet made by the president or anyone else - it will be a long time. What bothers me is the lack of a clear and definable mission.

If I was president, I would clearly state what our mission was there and share with the American people what we need to accomplish before we could leave. I would swallow my pride and work hard to bring aboard the democrats. LindyBill says that politicians and the public will never agree and that agreement was not necessary for success - giving several examples. (Hope I don't have that wrong so he comes down on me). I disagree. Viet Nam almost ruined this country - precisely because the American were split. Iraq is doing the same thing to America. It doesn't matter who is right or wrong. Unless you are willing to give up on a democracy - having the support of the people is a must. Failure is Viet Nam replayed!
