Read the article closer,

S Vedantham is not a credible source and does not speak for India.

do you know what VHP is? i would take a look here. vhp.org

"We suspect an international conspiracy to prevent India from becoming a nuclear power as the thorium deposits will meet the country's requirement for 400 years," Vedantham said."

This is absolute Junk. this article is worthless as a source.

For mined thorium reserves, look here. The indian commercial sector seems to be pumping out a lot of BS about thorium lately

minerals.er.usgs.gov

"It is likely that thorium’s use will continue to decline unless a low-cost disposal process is developed or new technology, such as a nonproliferative nuclear fuel, creates renewed demand."
