Judge denies Milberg move to dismiss fraud case

US class action law firm Milberg Weiss and one of its former partners have lost their latest bid to avoid standing trial on federal charges of paying illegal kickbacks to clients.

At a hearing on yesterday in Los Angeles, a US District Judge rejected several motions by Milberg Weiss and Steven Schulman, a former partner, to dismiss the case, Reuters reports.

"It seems to me this is a classic kickback scheme as alleged by the Government," the judge said. "Whether the Government will be able to prove these allegations is another matter,” he added.

Milberg is accused of paying clients to act as claimants in securities lawsuits......read the rest @
