I like the theory and refer to it sometimes but in practice it assumes a moral universe and we all saw the dude shoveling the bodies of dead children into the back of a truck in Fahrenheit 9/11.

You can say we will have our payback for that but what did the kids do to warrant that karma?

So in the end I don't think the moral universe theory stands up, these days I find myself more in line with Karen's "no good deed goes unpunished" approach, but the real question is WHY good deeds are often punished?
