The good parts out in the hills are just a tad too close to the Twentynine Palms Marine Training Center for you to be staking any claims I'm afraid, but you might be able to get close enough to poke your geo-curious head around an alluvial wash or two and maybe get your picture taken, if not in fact arrested. After you're released (if you're released), there's a couple of good Mexican restaurants at the west end of town right on the main drag. On a more serious note, does the local geology there make you at all interested in what WGI might have in the area? I.E., does southeastern CA turn your crank?
