Yep. I'd like them first to repeal the Telecommunications bill which allows for a ridiculous amount of consolidation and, therefore, nothing but rightwing propaganda 24/7 in most of the US. Even Clinton admitted that he might have gone too far on this one. Might have?

Jeepers.

Breaking up the conglomerates makes it easier to get other voices whispering in the ears of people who otherwise don't have much of a clue or get all of their clues from freaks like Coulter and Limbaugh. The electorate has to become better informed or we're all going down the drain together.

It is interesting to see how quickly the discussion about US medical care has gone from 'the best in the world' to 'the most expensive in the world and with mediocre results.' Most people I talk to don't understand single-payer so I just ask them how cool would it be to get sick in the middle of the night from a serious disease, have a doctor make a house call, go the hospital for a year, receive top flight care and never see a bill?

Cool is kind of relative and this scenario beats receiving a bill for $250,000 and having to argue with your insurance company about this and that procedure and this and that co payment.

I figure if that argument doesn't work, I ask them why our healthcare shouldn't at least be on a par with the French. That usually gets them.

:)
