Homeland Security Group International Announces Success With Operation Golden Phoenix Disaster Response Training Evolution

SAN DIEGO, CA, Aug 08, 2007 (MARKET WIRE via COMTEX) -- Homeland Security Group International (PINKSHEETS: HMSG) today announced successful results stemming from the company's participation in Operation Golden Phoenix, a collaborative civil-military training evolution meant to address select disaster relief protocols and demonstrate military cooperation and communication capabilities. The training evolution put together by a partnership of private companies, government agencies and humanitarian/relief agencies, took place in Los Alamitos and Los Angeles, California July 22-25.
Some of Operation Golden Phoenix participants included the U.S. Department of Defense. Naval Postgraduate School, Los Angeles County Sherriff, Los Angeles Police and Fire Departments, Los Angeles County Police, Pamona Police Department, USMC MAG 46 and the California National Guard.

Operation Golden Phoenix simulated the impact on information sharing in a real-world disaster. The training exercise assumed the context of a high magnitude earthquake in the region, which was further complicated by a wave of civil unrest and evacuation scenarios which strained critical infrastructure and systems.

Evolutions such as Golden Phoenix, Freedom's Ring, and Strong Angel identify strengths and weaknesses in the ability of support agencies to respond effectively during a crisis. "Conducting capability demonstrations, drills, and full-scale training exercises is fundamental for identifying friction points," commented Colonel Jeffrey Powers, USMC (Ret.), CEO of HMSG. "Response scenarios must be practiced prior to actual events to prevent disconnects during those major incidents."

While the primary purpose of HMSG's participation at Golden Phoenix was to showcase the equipment and services that the company and partners can provide to first responders, Golden Phoenix also allowed HMSG to foster relationships with our new joint venture partners.

"We are counting our participation in this event as an outstanding success," commented Powers. "We were able to demonstrate our product line consisting of cutting-edge technologies geared toward disaster response and also shared our experience and expertise learned during disaster relief efforts in the wake of hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma."

HMSG manned a 24-hour mobile command post during Golden Phoenix and participated by displaying and lending technologies to the event. The company was able to merge the capabilities of VideoNext and Wanco mobile surveillance trailers. The Wanco trailer was remotely deployed to Pasadena in order to provide a live video feed back to Los Alamitos and to display the ability of VideoNext security software. Accompanying HMSG were some of their joint venture partners including XO Armor, VideoNext, CamLite, Wanco mobile surveillance trailers, Activ and Hydrosil. Activ and Hydrosil products are being tested by HMSG with the US Military. Information regarding these products will be in a separate press release.
