No, the hairs are still one piece. The quad core chip is the same core whatever AMD calls it in the end. Both the desktop and server versions will be high-end parts capable of bringing in a blended $300 ASP. All I said is one million times 300 is doable in Q4 from the Barcelona wafers.

The bigger point in my initial post was that if AMD hits 1500 million in CPU revenue and ATI does just OK in Q4, they will be cash flow neutral. You may all be right and AMD may only do 100 million (lousy 300K chips from a brand new architecture?? Oh, come on.) in Barc revenue, but it may also sell 23-24 million K8 cores at $60 apiece. They have great momentum both in desktop owing to the lateness of the Core 2 Celeron and in laptops owing to both the vacuum caused by the demise of Core Duo and a large number of laptop design wins back in Q4 06 and Q1 07.

So argue with the 1500 figure instead, since no one of you seem to be able to fathom 300 million in Barc revenue in Q4.

Pirasa, > A million Barcelona cores, that is, whatever the server version will be called plus desktop Phenoms.

Oh OK, I see you're now resorting to splitting hairs.

Either way, I'd be surprised to see AMD sell more than 200K quad-core processors this year.
