(COMTEX) UUNET AND AT&T RATED AT THE TOP IN ISP CUSTOMER SATISFACTION SURVEY GARDEN CITY, N.Y., Oct. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- UUNet Technologies Inc. and AT&T WorldNet are rated the top providers of Internet services by business users, according to a survey to be released on Wednesday at the Networld+Interop trade show and conference in Atlanta. The survey was conducted by TeleChoice Inc., a Verona, New Jersey based telecommunications management consulting firm, in conjunction with the newspapers Inter@ctive Week and PC Week. UUNet and AT&T were rated at the top among 10 vendors who were measured, based on a variety of criteria, including service reliability, service performance, technical support, price and others. The measured vendors represent the largest service providers with national points of presence. Rounding out the 10 vendors were, in order, GTE/BBN Planet, MCI, Sprint, PSINet, Netcom, Earthlink, CompuServe and AOL. Business customers said that service reliability and service performance are the two most important factors driving their choice of an Internet Service Provider (ISP). reliability as either critical or very important when choosing an ISP. Service performance (delay, packet loss and congestion, for example) ranked a close second at 93% followed by technical support at 88% and then price of service at 86%. "Until now no one has published a comprehensive report about how satisfied customers are with their Internet service providers and how well ISPs are doing relative to the criteria that matter most to customers" says Rebecca Wetzel, TeleChoice Director of Internet Consulting. The goal of the TeleChoice survey is to show what business customers want and demonstrate to ISPs how they can best serve these customers needs.
