It's not that one firm runs things the way it wants, it's that there's blood in the water (this hedge fund), and all the sharks smell it. Because this hedge fund is a forced buyer (normally a forced seller), everyone trains their turret against them and makes the wounded hedge fund puke up (inhale in this case) everything.

This is what happened to LTCM too. The rumors were out there that they were in trouble, so everybody got on the other side of their trade eventually causing the teeter-totter to collapse.
