Jim, that is right why isn't everyone doing that? I live 150 miles from Seattle. My wife is from the area, and we visit there quite often. Yes there are many espresso huts. But none nearly as busy as Starbucks. Yes SBC is busy but so is Burger king compared to MCD. Point is many can put in espresso stands but few can compete like SBUX on a national level. Look at how many airports starbucks is in. Also their strategic alliances with Pepsi, Dreyers and Redhook. Also how many huts have international exposure? Brand name recognition means alot to many companies and starbucks seems to have it. Its early in the game if you like the company look for a pull back to get back in as a serious long term investor not as a speculator.
