Just received my Smith Barney Portfolio Strategist dated 10/3/97.
They list HD as a potential growth stock with a trailing p/e. They have set a target price of $83.

price / trailing 12 mo eps / price /trailing p/e/ ltg% / p/e to ltg
$52 / $1.48 / $83 / 56x / 23.6 / 2.4x

Additionally, they have a nice write up:

"...HD has initiated another uptrend with its recent breakout at 41. An initial target has been acheived at 50, but further upside looks readable at 60 & 67."

I'm waiting.
