Because inventory of AMD's current parts is losing value at an astonishing rate, and the company is strapped for cash. Life is very different for AMD than a year ago. You do know that inventory is kept at cost, don't you? In terms of market prices, things are relatively stable for quite some time, the price cuts have mellowed out.
