yesterday it occurred to me that it's taking on much more of the feel of the April 2000 breakdown:

The big difference between the two was that, following ten hectic trading days that hit the lows four separate days (twice in April 2000, twice in May 2000 vs. four times in August 1998), the 2000 market stood still for over three months, while the 1998 market failed very quickly.

Just another parallel for bursting bubbles that one might want to look to for clues.

EDIT: This morning's gut check fits in nicely with the 1998 scenario. Perhaps we are going down for the third test of the 1440 SPX level.
