John, runaway trains usually crash! The share price is only where it was expected 18 months ago, so although highish, it is not really runaway. More to go! Check this url, from the Loral stream, by Readware. techstocks.com It gives some expectations on a second constellation, subscriber counts as well as general satellite valuations. Part quote: "..... G* expects to execed capacity by the year 2005-- that means it will probably have in excess of 5 million subscribers. And yes, if it does exceed 3 million susbscribers, it will go far beyond $500/share. Just do the arithmetic. Will it go far beyond 3 million subscribers is the question-- the announcement last week indicates that Globalstar definitely believes it will be constrained capacitywise in 2005, hence the need to start working on a second generation and bringing it Skybridge to help out." Does anyone have any comments on the auction system of pricing to maximize profitability - "CURRENT CALL PRICE IS ....."? There seems no other way to ensure service availability at all times and it is the only way to maximize profit, keep the systems very busy and give customers maximum benefits. I've never heard anyone suggest such a system. It is only now that technology and software is available that such a system can work. cdmaOne handsets have the processing power - all it needs is somebody to develop the software.
