Yes, I believe you're right. And this is *exactly* what the computer industry needs: a new beast. I'd love to see Apple get stripped down a bit, which, according to the Apple Higher Ed rep I spoke with the other day, is exactly what's going to happen. Basically the company is going to produce only two motherboards, which will really focus development, manufacturing, and sales. Combine this move with the release of Rhapsody, and you're looking at as good an effort as Apple is likely to put forth this FY.

I'm sticking around in any case. And I can't wait to see who gets duped into taking over the CEO role. Steve's going to be the puppet master in any scenario you're likely to envision.

I'd recommend a Dell to just about anyone, by the way. I think the company does a real nice job. Don't get me wrong.
