There are people who see conspiracies everywhere, people both on the left and on the right. The conspiracies seem to satisfy some emotional need, possibly akin to the source of religious belief (which after all often has a paranoid tinge - things don't happen by chance, it's all part of God's plan). Generally they are not the sharpest knives in the drawer.
