I don't think that the demise of political parties was being advocated. The point seemed to be that we not be so wedded to a party that we let it pick our POVs for us. Pick your side of the issues and then look to see which party best meets your needs, not the other way around.

You know, I have had more than one discussion on this very thread where a poster advocated some POV, I remarked that it was a POV favored by the Dems, and the poster instantly retreated from that POV. To me that's not a healthy sign.
