Pick your side of the issues and then look to see which party best meets your needs Issues have different weight. To some abortion rights or lack thereof are the cornerstone of the universe... to others, it is awareness vs. cluelessness about war and world affairs. Probably the most important political fights take place within the parties. Standpoints on many issues will overlap, but in the end, the ones which are perceived as truly important will likely determine party affiliations. Yes, too many people do not think very much for themselves... I've met people who told me that they are Dems because their fathers and grandfathers were Dems... LOL.
