"The first thing I would do is put somebody in charge who actually cared about the people of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast,"

Cripes am I sick of that line and what it's basically saying....

If you're a liberal democrat then you care about people in trouble and do all you can to help. You're morally superior to all and enjoy knowing that in your warm fuzzy thoughts.

If you're a conservative republican all you care about is stuffing your and big businesses pockets. You don't care about hurricanes and bridge collapses (since those things have to do with taking care of people). If it ever does look to others that you're doing something just because it's the right thing to do.......well then, more digging must be done in order to find the true underlying (selfish) reason........

Democrats response to bridge disaster? Talk about raising taxes to fix our infrastructure. I've got a better idea to look at before we raise taxes, how about finding out what keeps happening to the funds that should have been already alloted for bridge maintenance and putting the cabbash on state Gov'ts diverting those funds to other projects.
