I wonder if Bush had anything to do with Rove leaving? From his press conference:

"..I would call him a friend. I would call Karl a dear friend. Y'all know I've christened Karl "Turd Blossom". But you know how nicknames go - since 2006 I've just been calling him "Turd".."
