VMWare is Doomed in terms of domination.

The Open Source version of virtualization software is superior for the same reasons Linux and other Open Source projects have advantages over the limited pool of engineers working on proprietary systems. Open Source is most often successful with commodity software, such as virtualization. Engineers, involved in money-making vertical market products, extend Open Source while contributing back tested, peer-reviewed generalizations. It's a win-win and it's very much in line with our capitalist, market-driven economy.

XEN is the VMWare KILLER. XEN is the clear winner. As is usually the case, a commercial version of popular Open Source products. Those who need on-demand support of specialized engineers and technicians will usually pay for these products, but they know they have the backing of the Open Source community also. VMWare is going to go the route of BEA, IONA and other crumbled companies.
