a Dow 10,500 sometime next year

You've provided a number roughly 30 percent below recent levels. What would be your basis for predicting that much decline? An outright recession (negative GDP for several quarters)? A terrorist attack in the U.S.?

Anything's possible, of course, but, short of a recession and an outright domestic terrorist attack, I fail to see anything that would justify that much pessimism.

On the other hand, I don't see much, if any increase in average corporate earnings either, so I could accept a market correction in the neighborhood of an additional 4 or 5 percent. That is a far cry from 10,500. Give us some details, or some basis for your view.
