KT,

In general, I think it can't be a very good idea to simultaneously be cutting down trees around the globe and dumping large amounts of pollutants into the air and water. However, I don't think anyone knows what's going in terms of the correlations between human activity and the weather.

I think you pretty much have to be an idiot to trust a politician like Al Gore (or anyone else) on this issue regardless of which side they are on. In fact, I'm still undecided as to whether Gore is an incredibly arrogant dickhead that actually thinks he knows what's going on or whether he's an intrinsically evil dirtbag that knows he doesn't know but has decided to use the issue to advance his political agenda and career anyway.

Unfortunately, I don't trust many scientists on the issue either because too many of them have a vested interest in the expansion of government to further their research etc... and others are bought and paid for by corporations etc...

I'm not even totally convinced that all weather changes are a bad thing. When some species die off, others tend to do a lot better or adapt. That's been going on for millions of years. We rarely hear about the ones doing better. We only hear about the plants and animals that are in danger. Humans tend to be afraid of change, but sometimes change is a good thing even if is unsettling for a few decades. If all the socialists in the world became extinct, I wouldn't be unhappy. ;-)
