I guess you really need to be ignorant of history to be a liberal. The folly continues:

Turning Osama in to a folk hero for the Muslim world was a PR mistake of great proportions.

Actually Osama was a folk hero in much of the Muslim world on 9/12/2001. He knew it and boasted of it on videotape, describing Al Qaida as now being the "strong horse". On the other hand, AQ is now less popular in the Muslim world today than then, because they've been targeting fellow Muslims for terror attacks.

Now we couldn't ignore 9/11, and I don't suggest we should have, but we should have treated it the way Brits treated the Blitz (which was, I think, like many many months of 9/11's). They proudly stated as a country that life would go on as usual, and that nothing "changes everything". Quite a bit of spine in those Brits. I'm just sorry we didn't have more public spine, but nothing to be done about the past, except learn from it- take a little something from the stoics, and stiffen our backs a little- and of course quit aiding our enemies by making them in to giants when they are actually fairly low tech angry ideological munchkins- who got lucky with 9/11- but considering the wide open nature of our country, they could have done SO much more damage- so they aren't really very smart, and their clearly aren't very many of them here.

The poster apparently doesn’t know the Brits were at war with Nazi Germany during the blitz - a pretty big difference from the no war on terror policy she advocated even after the 911 attack.

She thinks the Brits just hunkered down and took it as if nothing were happening. Since she thinks for the Brits “life would go on as usual” during the blitz, apparently a government imposed blackout and nightly retreat to shelters was life as usual.

Does the opponent of the war on terror know her stoic stiff-spined Brits retaliated with a fire-bombing campaign against German cities that dwarfed the Blitz in casulties and destruction?

"What we want to do in addition to the horrors of fire is to bring the masonry crashing down on the Boche, to kill Boche and to terrify Boche." 'Bomber' Butch Harris

"I am in full agreement [with terror bombing]. I am all for the bombing of working class areas in German cities. I am a Cromwellian – I believe in "slaying in the name of the Lord!" Sir Archibald Sinclair, Secretary for Air

"It began in 1940 and Churchill believed it held the secret of victory. He was convinced that raids of sufficient intensity could destroy Germany’s morale, and so his War Cabinet planned a campaign that abandoned the accepted practice of attacking the enemy’s armed forces and, instead made civilians the primary target. Night after night, RAF bombers in ever increasing numbers struck throughout Germany, usually at working class housing, because it was more densley packed." – The Peoples’ War, Angus Calder. London, Jonathan Cape, 1969.

In addition to this, the mild stoic Brits even invaded Europe (with our help) - while this poster opposed going into Afghanistan after 911, saying it would have been good to know where “they” are.

The difference between leaving them undisturbed in Taliban ruled Afghanistan and ignoring the attack and doing nothing is pretty thin, I think.

Here's something which shows how the real AQ would react to ignoring the 911 attack:

i>Islamist terrorists have long been at war with the United States and frequently have proclaimed their determination to win the war. In fact, they see their enemies' unwillingness to acknowledge this war as an act of cowardice. If their enemies refuse to wear the mantle of warrior, terrorists assume that they are weak, lacking in honor, and spiritually inferior—and the notion that their enemy is vulnerable emboldens them. Failing to acknowledge that we are at war only encourages the enemy to be more warlike.
