I think Ike actually sent in the first advisors. Kennedy expanded our roll and Johnson expanded it yet again. Nixon would have won the war with his bombing of Hanoi but the peaceniks and press forced him to stop. I saw an interview with the President of NV who claimed they were within hours of surrendering due to the carpet bombing by the B-52's. It got us the cease fire but we could have won. It's a shame that the folks are trying to lose another war for us. We paid a heavy price for our failure in Vietnam that we are still paying today. It's why Al Qaeda feels they just need to wait us out to this day. We've proven it in Vietnam and Somalia and Lebanon and with the hostages in Iran that we are a paper tiger. I had hoped this time would be different but I'm starting to fear not.
