re: What your take on this

Well, the article was very deceptive. The article said "Democrats have been demanding a withdrawal from Iraq for the past two years, and Barack Obama knows exactly what he'll do with the troops once they withdraw. He'll send them on an invasion of Pakistan". Obama said "There are terrorists holed up in those mountains who murdered 3,000 Americans. They are plotting to strike again. It was a terrible mistake to fail to act when we had a chance to take out an al Qaeda leadership meeting in 2005. If we have actionable intelligence about high-value terrorist targets and President Musharraf won't act, we will."

"We will act" is hardly "invasion of Pakistan". And if you think the US hasn't "acted" in Pakistan you are not paying attention.

But I've said on this thread many times that Pakistan is the most dangerous country on the planet. We don't "rule out" military action in any country in the world; why should Pakistan be different?

Frankly, after our failure at Tora Bora, I think we should have followed bin Laden into Pakistan... yes an invasion if narrowly focused. We had and would have had world support. I think it's too late for that action, but if we have good intelligence I would not be adverse to bombing the crap out of the area.

We still haven't avenged 9/11 which is a disgrace. And certainly Iraq has done nothing to avenge 9/11.
