I think this rally's going to get sold, but I'm not betting one way or the other. Letting the banks borrow from the Fed instead of each other helps (depending on how much of the requested amounts the Fed is willing to lend); and suggesting accomodation regarding duration of loans certainly helps the immediate strain of the credit market, but does not solve the problem of what's on their books. Just lets them hide it longer...
