I agree with you. I really think QCOM should work hard in brining NOK to the table before the legal costs go over the roof. It seems to me that if BRCM gave QCOM such a hard time in courts, fighting NOK is going to be much harder. NOK has the experience, the money, and the expertise to fight QCOM for years. But from Nokia's action today, I get the feeling that they are also ready to come to the negotiation table. They want to deal and they are looking to see if QCOM is also ready to give in a bit.

I think NOK realizes that they have soften up QCOM a bit after all the issues QCOM has been facing in the past few months. With Lupin gone, IJ should take the time to think things over and come up with a solution that will be beneficial to both NOK and QCOM. If these companies don't act soon and this fight extends to 2009 and beyond, some operators might just jump from the EDGE/GPRS/GSM directly to 4G. By then there will also be many others suing QCOM for other stuff.

Let the negotiations start with NOK, and let BRCM burn in its own misery.
