Personally I believe social programs were a mistake going all the way back to Social Security and I have a son that receives SS although I had nothing to do with him signing up for that, but most Republicans and the party itself have signed onto the basic programs like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. While I would have preferred that we had not gone down that path, I believe as a country we're hooked on them now and there is no going back.
