Don't start me talking, you'll never be able to shut me up <g>.

I guess there are at least two reasons for my brevity. One is that I am intensely involved in my work at the moment, and come home with depleted energy. I mostly avoid serious mental effort when in this state. The other is that reality is (to me) pretty complicated. My main disagreement with people generally, and on SI in particular, is the tendency that they often have to seize onto simple explanations for very complex phenomena. This works in basic physics, say, but not at all well in complex systems, like most of biology right up to human behaviour. The way I see things can not, in most cases, be reduced to simple easily-expressed terms, and in any case I'm not gifted with the ability to put it across. It's not just an academic issue, since I see this tendency to embrace simple but wrong answers as behind a lot of the less pleasant aspects of human behaviour (like war). But it's easier for me to state what I don't believe than what I do believe, if anything.

Boiling it down: things are complicated, and I'm lazy.
