Oh, they finally ran out of Purple Hearts? About time! The medals issued to wounded vets are the remnants of a large stock of the device left over from a massive purchase made in preparation for D-Day in 1945.

Personally, I'm really glad that it took 62 years to use up the medals that were supposed to be issued in WWII. Speaks well for our military leaders.
