The identification of friend and foe has always been a problem on battlefields and likely always will.

Did you know we killed hundreds of our own troops during some WWII battles?

Do you think that happened because people think "soldier's lives aren't that important, so we should just write the whole thing off to, "stuff happens"?

It's NOT like Tillman and O'Neal just walked around a corner and they nor their comrades knew what was happening. Tillman and O'Neal KNEW they were being fired on by "friendlies".

Problem is the friendlies didn't know who they were firing at. Tillman and O'Neal knowing doesn't mean the other unit knew.
