Call me crazy, but I have never even considered a Dr Strangelove scenario, because then it is all over. Can you imagine what the standard of living, etc would have been in Russia, if all those trillions of dollars spent on armament had been applied to social infrastructure. Hell, they spend more bucks making vodka to keep the masses in a stupor, so they won't have the sense to rise up against the government. They cannot even produce enough grain to supply their people with enough bread, A lot of old folks are looking for the return of the old regime, because things were better in their mind.
