It wasn't as bad this year.........it's cold but not as cold as it was.

I would say that a person has to slowly emerge in the water. Jumping in might be heart attack alley.

A few years ago I went white water rafting down the AMerican river which is fed from the Sierra snow melt.....it was early July. Our guide told us we could jump over the side of the raft and do a float during some of the calmer areas of the river ( certainly not over the Class 3-4 rapids). I went in and it actually took my breath away for a few seconds. I had a life preserver on but WOW !! I couldn't breathe right away!

Tahoe is somewhat like the lakes I swam in as a kids..............-45 below winters and two months of summer with four months without ice................colder than all hell. Lake Champlain was the coldest of them. But Tahoe is colder cause it's so deep...........I think the average depth is like 1000ft. I think a true bottom has not been located.

If Tahoe emptied the entire state of Ca would be covered with 2 feet of water............that's alot of water!

Goin home tomorrow!
